Lands Minister
Brendon Grylls and
Planning Minister
John Day today
announced Cedar
Woods Properties
Ltd’s appointment as
the nominated
development partner
to progress the Cape
Peron marina-based
tourist precinct at
Rockingham.
Mr
Grylls said private
sector commitment was an
integral part of the
long-awaited project.
“Rockingham residents
have been talking for
nearly 40 years about
the need for improved
boating facilities and a
secure marina,” Mr
Grylls said.
“With
a private sector partner
onboard and the
Liberal-National
Government’s commitment
to the project, this is
another step in the
right direction.”
Mr
Day said Directions
2031, the new draft
planning framework which
would shape the future
of the Perth and Peel
regions for the next 20
years, identified
Rockingham as a key
centre of regional
growth.
“The
addition of the
recreational boating and
tourist facilities at
Cape Peron will enhance
the city’s role as a
major activity centre,”
Mr Day said.
“The
Rockingham community has
waited too long for this
to happen and I am
delighted the State
Government is pushing
ahead with this project
which will benefit many
in the community.”
The Cape Peron
marina-based tourist
precinct will
provide a range of
visitor and boating
facilities including
services not offered
by the Port
Rockingham marina.
Cedar Woods was
awarded the
opportunity to
progress the
completion of the
Phase 2 statutory
approvals process,
following an
expressions of
interest submission
process and period
of review.
The project was
proposed by the
Rockingham Kwinana
Development Office
(RKDO), and will be
developed in a
working partnership
between the
Government’s land
and property
developer, LandCorp
and Cedar Woods.
